Member, Busisiwe, shares how persistence has made a difference in her Toastmasters Journey:

Current Role: President
Previous Committee Roles: VPE, VPM, Treasurer, VPPR
I have served in committee roles for most of the time as a member
of the Mariswe Toastmasters Club. The committee roles have helped
to expose me to leadership at an executive and strategic level which
has helped to enhance my career planning and journey. All the
committee roles translate to executive roles in the workplace. As a
President, I understand the CEO role and how to lead an
organization. As the VPE, it showed me how the Head of Human
Resources directs the learning and development of people in their
organization. The VPM and VPPR roles made me appreciate the
efforts of the marketing department to acquire and retain new
customers to grow an organization. I assumed the financial
responsibility of keeping an organization afloat in the Treasurer role.
In addition, through the committee experience, I have learned the
importance of succession planning and working with a team to
achieve a common goal. I have been able to accelerate my leadership
journey through my experience with the club committee and
encourage members to use the Toastmasters platform to enrich and
enhance their professional and leadership goals.
